This past fall we had the great pleasure of being able to travel to Yakima with our friends from Third Moon/Blood Brothers and select hops for the first time. This is something we have been anxiously wanting/waiting to do for years. Hops are, to put it mildly, extremely important to the production of hoppy beer, and it’s no secret we produce quite a lot of hoppy beer; making hops all the more important to us and our brewery. This year we selected for the varietal Citra, otherwise known as the GOAT (not actually, but let’s be honest, this hop basically made IPA what it is today) and it was both on paper and on the table, one of the most amazing lots of hops we had the chance to smell and select. Amazingly oily (like literally the highest oil content Citra we’ve ever used… by a lot), and loaded with aromas of sweet candy, papaya and citrus. We’re thrilled to be able to share our selection of Citra with you.
