One of, if not the first Cold IPA brewed in Germany. The style that has been sweeping the US craft scene due to its unique profile: massively hopped like a New England Hazy, but crisp and light-bodied like a lager. Yes…that’s right, it’s says Cold “IPA” but most versions are actually brewed with Lager yeast with either corn or rice in the grain bill…which is actually illegal in Germany. Our first Cold IPA (#verboten) was a collab brewed with corn with our friends Third Barrel in Ireland, where that’s totally legal. We loved it. Our customers loved it. So we brewed another one, this time only with barley malt so it would be #erlaubt (allowed) in Germany. With no influence from the yeast like in an Hazy IPA plus super light malt and restrained bitterness, some say Cold IPA is the purest showcase of aroma forward hops. So if you like intense hop aroma and the refreshing drinkability of lagers, you will probably dig this. Now if we can only get Germany to loosen up a bit, who knows what we might be able to create.
