Пиво Sauer Macht Lustig - Bräugier Craftbier

This is a collab beer with our great friends from the Berlin beer scene, Protokoll! We are actually neighbors with them now two times over: In the Friedrichshain district, our Bräugier Ostkreuz Taproom is very close to Protokoll, and in the Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood our Brewpub is just a short walk from Protokoll’s second bar, Manifest. As we brainstormed this beer together, we spent a lot of time discussing our struggles during 2 years of COVID lockdowns and restrictions as well as our excitement for the upcoming relaxing of the rules. And since we just so happened to be making a Sour beer, the perfect name hit us: “Sauer Macht Lustig” This German saying roughly translates to “Sour leads to fun” originally coming from the fact that sourness in food enhances taste, helps digestion, and thus ultimately leads to a good time! We thought it fitting analogy for the sourness of the lockdowns giving way to one hell of party as things open up. For such a momentous occasion that you definitely need to celebrate with friends, Bräugier is proud to bring out the perfect beer with our friends at Protokoll. We turned up the alcohol to 7.4% on this imperial kettle sour and added loads of Sour Cherry and Raspberry, plus just enough Lime to round things out.
