Oktober 2020 Press Release (English) from the Sicherheitsamt Berlin (Berlin Office of Safety) In compliance with the newly enacted national regulations to protect the safety of the German people, we hereby notify citizens, residents, and visitors of the following safety measures: 1. Immunity ID 1.1. All persons must carry their Immunity ID (Immunitätsausweis) on their person at all times. Upon request, the Immunity ID must be presented to any public official, police, or military, whether local or national. Failure to produce a valid Immunity ID can result in fines, mandatory quarantine in a government sanctioned hospital, or both. 1.2 The Immunity ID must be shown in order to enter any building or establishment other than your own or a family member´s residence. This includes stores, restaurants, bars, public buildings, cultural centers, sport facilities, and public transport. Owners and employees of all businesses and establishments are required to verify Immunity IDs and document the duration of an individual’s stay in their premises. In cases of doubt, establishments have the right refuse entry to any individual to protect the safety of other patrons. Establishments must notify the Office of Safety of anyone not presenting a valid Immunity ID. 1.3 In addition to the requirement to carry and present the Immunity ID, individuals must also provide documentation from a government recognized doctor of recent negative test results or immunity status for themselves, members of the same household, and living family members regardless of their place of residence, in order to: - Travel outside of your registered city of residence (Wohnort) - Work in any capacity outside of your place of residence (Home Office) 2. Special Permit for Operating a Business 2.1 All businesses and establishments are to remain closed unless they successfully apply for and receive a Special Permit to Operate (Sonderbetriebsgenehmigung) from the Office of Safety. 2.2 To receive the Special Permit to Operate all owners and managers actively engaged in the business must meet the criteria in Section 1.3 above as well as provide a Health and Hygiene Plan. The Office for Safety has the sole discretion to issue or not issue the Special Permit and has the right to revoke the Special Permit at any time. 2.3 All businesses not receiving a Special Permit or having a Special Permit revoked will be entitled to fair compensation from the government upon presentation of sufficient documentation of the financial impact to the business. The amount and details of this compensation are yet to be determined but will be managed through the Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB). 3. Alcohol 3.1 The sale and consumption of alcohol is expressly forbidden, except for the absolutely delicious Bräugier “Show Me Your Papers” Double NEIPA, which was brewed especially for your safety with 8.5% alcohol.
