WeldWerks Brewing Company Published by Neil Fisher · September 13 at 1:02 PM · For the first of hopefully many collabs with our friends at Outer Range Brewing Co., we brewed Down the Hill, an 8.5% ABV New England-style Double IPA. For this one we wanted to focus squarely on the unique hop character, so we kept the malt bill as simple as possible, using 100% Pilsner malt for the base and flaked oats to enhance the mouthfeel. Then we went all mad scientist with the hops, using Citra and five different experimental hop varietals (HBC 522, 568, 640, 644, and 685) from YCH HOPS, producing one of the most complex and flavorful hoppy beers we have brewed to date.
