Smoked Pilsner/Collaboration with Liquid Love Brewing! Love Loaf is a smoked Pilsner that was cold lagered in red wine barrels for six weeks. We used Sugar Creek Malt’s Indiana Nordic Malt that was smoked over cherry and birch wood for a light smoke character throughout. Hop Head Farm’s Super Saaz and Grüngeist hops cut through the smoke and provide a slight citrus and peach herbal aroma. Lagering in red wine barrels for six weeks lends a dry red wine and berry layer and a dry finish. The nuances are subtle, but the beer gets fairly complex as it warms up and the smoke, dry hop and barrel begin to work off of each other.
