In 1893, William Joseph Still, a proven inventor of steam and electrical technologies, collaborated with Mimico, Ontario patent lawyer Frederick Barnard Fetherstonhaugh (pronounced Fanshaw) to design and build Canada’s first electric vehicle at at the Dixon Carriage Company on the corner of Bay and Temperance in downtown Toronto. The car was immediately successful and was shown at the Canadian National Exhibition in 1893 and 1906, by which time Fetherstonhaugh had added a glass windshield, one of the first on a car in North America. The car remained in production for over ten years and an electric car industry began to take shape in Toronto. But then, in 1912, the Fetherstonhaugh disappeared from the historical record. To commemorate this vehicle that was more than one hundred years ahead of its time, we brewed this juicy & inviting IPA with full tropical and citrus flavour divorced from the bitterness so familiar in IPAs. Like trying to rev the engine on an electric car and being surprised by how much you enjoy gliding forward without noise or effort.
