A while back, we were reminiscing about our collaboration with the Surly Brewing crew. The refreshing Ginger Lager we brewed together for Beer Camp Across the World was truly unique and quickly became a brewer favorite upon release. Our love for that beer inspired us to brew an imperial version and age it in freshly emptied Kentucky bourbon barrels. Brace yourself, this double lager brings a triple threat; oak, ginger, & cayenne unite to become one in this tasty tonic. The ginger is bright and crisp, the cayenne spice emphasizes the ginger heat, and barrel-aging adds a subtle sweetness to round out the finish.
