Dictator Doppelbock is a rarely seen version of this big classic German beer style. Utilizing Pilsner, Munich and Carared malts we were able to achieve a deep golden hue, subtle toasty malt flavor and residual sweetness which help lend balance to this huge lager. We added German Magnum hops into the first runnings of wort to our brew kettle (a technique known as first wort hopping) to extract as clean and crisp a bitterness as we could. Also, multiple additions of the very spicy Tettnanger hop variety in the kettle and in the whirlpool balance out the malt goodness with herbal aromas and flavors. Finally this beer went through a slow cool fermentation using the Augustiner Lager yeast and a 4 week cold storage or “Lagering” time to ensure a clean and drinkable finished product!
