Alpha Hop brewer Jeff has long wanted to get this idea from his brain into barrels. “I truly love PB&J sandwiches as a 48-year-old” Jeff says, and he'll still bring them to work for an easy, tasty lunch. A blonde ale with malted oats and wheat malt provides the bready, biscuity foundation for a jammy 10-month transformation inside tawny port barrels. Raspberry puree, in the barrels and conditioning tank, blends with a late addition of natural peanut butter extract for a smooth sipper. Jeff aimed for subtle peanut butter aroma and flavor, both of which show up as your glass warms. Raspberry pops on the nose, while the barrel character on the backend delivers a grape-like signoff. Recommended aging time: up to 6 months, but fresh is best!
