Every year Cigar City Brewing partners with the winner of the Florida Brewers Guild's Best Florida Homebrew competition to represent Florida at the Great American Beer Festival's Pro-Am Competition. This year's Best Florida Homebrew recipe is a Czech-style Pilsner created by Orlando's Mike Radford. Inspired by the original Bohemian pilsners, Albatross Fuel makes use of Bohemian-malted barley, Bohemian Saaz hops and Bohemian lager yeast. Radford's unique interpretation of the style allows for the introduction of decidedly non-traditional ingredients like Magnum hops, Munich malt and a water profile that's harder in minerals to emphasize a snappier bitterness.
