Brewed for the hospital of St Cross, Winchester. The hospital is famous worldwide for its ancient tradition of the Wayfarer's Dole. Bread and beer were given to travelers to sustain then for their onward journey. This unique tradition is reflected today in a beaker of ale Anne morsel of bread given at the Porter's Lodge to visitors who request it.
