Baltic Porter aged in bourbon barrels with cinnamon Like a great rock band, this beer is more than the sum of its parts. An expressive Baltic porter headlines Hittin’ the Note, aged in cinnamon whiskey barrels for more than a year. Topped off with dessert stout for extra body, the resulting blend saw a final addition of cinnamon sticks just days before tank transfer. The aroma, surprisingly, is light on spice; instead it’s dried cherry, pipe tobacco, and barrel character that stand out to Alpha Hop brewer Nick Ison. The flavor is where “the [oak’s] vanilla and the cinnamon really come into balance,” Nick says. Let your glass warm and lock into a groove with Hittin’ the Note. Recommended aging time: Up to 1 year
