For the last nine months or so we've been working on some funky, wild and barrel aged beers. It's something that we had talked about, but took us a while to really get up and running. This is the third release from this new initiative and one that we've held back for this special occasion. We had been tossing around the idea of a cucumber sour for a while, and then some space opened in barrels we had previously used to age a wild Brett beer. We decided to brew a traditional Gose base of wheat and barley malt then sour, ferment and age it in oak with fresh cucumber and sea salt. It surpassed our expectations and was one of those beers that made us take a step back and reflect on what we do and how lucky we are. Sometimes we get so bogged down in the day to day, and it takes these fun little projects/experiments snap us out of it and remind us of the creativity that goes into every aspect of what we do.
