Masterminded by Firestone Walker’s production manager Ali Razi, Winter Merlin is a limited-edition mashup of the brewery’s Mocha Merlin milk stout and Velvet Merkin barrel-aged oatmeal stout. Mocha Merlin sets the tone, featuring components blended with Ghana cocoa nibs and Colombian coffee from San Luis Obispo’s HoneyCo Coffee Roasters. A dash (5%) of Velvet Merkin contributes classic bourbon barrel notes while amplifying Mocha Merlin’s chocolatey character. The result is a beer loaded with seasonal magic, including aromas and flavors of milk chocolate, coconut, espresso, black cherry preserve and spicy vanilla. A perfect match for a chilly holiday evening.
