Whisky Cask BA Golden Sour with Loganberries We took our longest aged unfruited golden sour - Riddle of Steel and aged this in a number of oak casks with fruit. This second release was aged in a 50l firkin which had previously held peated Islay whisky (Laphroaig). We then added just over 10kg of whole fresh Loganberries directly into the barrel (over 220g/l), to referment and condition with this beer over the winter months. We sourced these berries from our local farmer, Euan at Pittormie Fruit Farms in Cupar, located seven miles from the brewery. Loganberries are a cross between raspberries and blackberries and provide the complex berry fruit characteristics of both.
