Unless you’re familiar with lulo fruit, the aroma of this beer will be a mystery. Malt, hops, fruit and yeast esters combine to produce a unique, clean smell that precedes your first taste. You’ll recognize some light caramel malt presence, but the dominant flavors are those of tropical fruits. Pick out pineapple, guava, strawberry, blood orange, and a tad of lime. Lulo melds these flavors and gives us a wonderful fruit salad that, balanced by a delicious golden ale base, arrives to us in beer form. With the zesty carbonation, these fruit flavors should “pop” in your mouth and linger after each sip. We drank lulo juice often while living in Colombia.
