Пиво Barley Wine - Trenčiansky pivovar Lanius

Barleywine - American • 12.4% ABV

The first beer of the Barley Wine style was born in 1870s. After the English-French conflicts of the 18th century trade relations of these countries froze and the English nobility became cut off from their favourite alcoholic beverage: claret-type wine of Bordeaux. An alternative from unexperienced English vintners was out of question, thus local brewers were approached, then be-ing among the best in the world. They created an extremely strong, semi-dark beer, with its alcohol content granting it the name Barley Wine. Since its birth all the way up until its gradual down-fall, in England it had only been available for the members of high society. Its renaissance came in 1976, when it was brewed for the first time commercially by an American brewery Anchor Brew-ing Company and it has been ever since one of the globally most popular vintage beers.
