Trenčiansky pivovar Lanius

Пиво Irish Red Ale - Trenčiansky pivovar Lanius

Red Ale - Irish • 6.5% ABV

It is hard to trace the history of Irish Red Ale. In spite of some beer historians claiming it is plainly an English Bitter brewed in Ireland, most of them agree on the fact, that there are several differences, making it a separate beer style. The beer is less distinctly bitter, as hops being virtually unavailable in Ireland at that time. It is also darker, due to the usage of a small amount of unmalted roasted barley, granting the beer a dry, slightly roasted finish and ruby red color. In spite of that, it is grainy sweet, with hints of toffee and caramel malt. In Ireland itself is this beer brewed rather sporadicly, it is nevertheless an favorable choice of home brewers all around the world.
