Пиво Pumpkin 14° - Trenčiansky pivovar Lanius

Pumpkin / Yam Beer • 6.3% ABV

The first mentions of using pumpkin in beer manufacturing originate in seventeenth century's North America. Dutch settlers learnt to use this crop from the Native Americans. Undemanding, yet nutritious, it became one of the main components of their food. Thanks to its high sugar content, the pumpkin also was an ideal ingredient for fermented beverage brewing, beer above all. Under the influence of immigrant German brewmasters, this tradition slowly vanished from beer brewing. It was not until the turn of the millennium, when it reappeared thanks to American craft breweries. As compared to the original seventeenth century pumpkin beers, the modern exemplars are more coherent, semi-dark, of average strength and top-fermented specials. Typical are various spices used, as the contemporary Pumpkin Ale should be reminiscent of a traditional American pumpkin pie. Many exceptional breweries pro-duce this beer mere one time a year, from freshly harvested roasted pumpkins and is drunk, as a tribute to an ancient Celtic harvest festival, on a night of All Hallows' Eve, better known as Halloween.
