This year’s VHS was matured on Nicaragua la Bendicion single origin coffee from Speckled Ax, as well as a small mountain of Ghanaian cacao nibs. The base beer is large and in charge in all regards, with layers of caramelized and roasted malts producing a smooth, but complex platform for the coffee and cacao to stand on. Molasses, brownie batter, light umami and dark chocolate mix with bright notes of honeycomb, strawberry yogurt, and earthy maple as the beer warms.
